Night out in our "lively" capital

Well, I've just had a very interesting night out in Canberra (our capital city for those of you that are non-Australians). Firstly, Canberra is very quite...and I mean veeeeeery quiet....on a Monday night. But I was here on business and it was such an ideal time to get dressed en femme and go out for a drink.

So I did my makeup, got dressed and then strolled out of the hotel at 9pm. That all went fine. I then drove to "Tilleys", the only tranny-friendly place open on a Monday night. Arrived, walked in...got a few glances...ordered a drink and then went and sat outside. Had a ciggie and quietly had my glass of wine. All very uneventful but I was enjoying every minute of it...just the being "Dee" out in public bit.

And then it got interesting. A rather strange and somewhat drunk lady arrived. She bummed a cigarette from me, then some money for a glass of wine. Then she chatted away to me...which was sorta nice because I was getting bored sitting outside on my own. She tried to sell me her sunglasses...at 10pm at night!! I declined sweetly. Then I noticed she was wearing some interesting rings. I ended up buying a really nice big one from her.

And, this is were it gets a bit strange...she then wanted to give me a passionate kiss. I literally had to forcibly keep her mouth away from mine. After giving my "falsies" a squeeze, she then wanted to sit on my lap....it was actually quite funny. I eventually had to say "Now come on, stop being a naughty girl. You sit there on your chair and just drink your wine." This really naughty throaty laughter came from her. Anyway, then she behaved herself.

After that I'd had enough "excitement" for the evening, so I headed back to the hotel. Parked my car...again all very uneventful. Then I proceeded to the hotel lobby, only to find the manager and several other people at the front door discussing some or other problem. My nerve deserted me, so I went and stood around the corner and had a cigarette. And that's where the night security guard then came and "investigated" me with his torch. I was obviously looking very suspicious. In fact he no doubt thought I was a lady of the night loitering outside the hotel hoping to sneak in...and off course he was right, in a manner of speaking!!!...hahahah. I have no idea whether he "picked" me as a tranny or not, but I then "had to" head in through the front door so as to stop "loitering". It was really quite scary walking straight pass the "straight" manager, several staff and hotel guests.

All round a very interesting evening with several more firsts for me!!!

I'll post some photos of me at the restaurant, Tilley's, in the next few days or so.

Is Camberra as quiet as North Sydney? I made the mistake of going to see what it was like on the other side of the bridge one evening...

Deadsville! :-)

ooooh canberra, where the casino is smaller than my back yard! and in inner city paddington that's saying something, although my back yard does have a 5 burner beefmaster, hey becky!
sad to hear you won't be able to make it to dinner next thurs dee, but....shall...struggle..on...without...you...

Hey Becky...yes, Canberra on a Monday night is as dead if not more dead than North Sydney...although I know what you mean about "across the bridge"...not the place for a lively evening.

And Cyanne, yes you;ve been there and seen the highlights of Canberra. By the way, just have to say that a 5 burner beefmaster is definitely a bit of a waste on a vegan...just as well there is also a meat-eater living in that "bacjyard" in Paddington.

Meat you say? Meat... tasty.

Canberra - dullsville, although the Cube, the GLBT nightclub was rocking along on the Saturday we were there.

Sounds like your 'date' was a charmer, Dee. but where does one find such a lady in Sydney?

Kat sweetie, I have no doubt that one will find such a charmer as my fellow Canberra-wine-drinking-companion in Sydney, but I'm not quite sure where!!! In the somewhat boring protected Northern Beaches/Lower North Shore society I live in, I'm unlikely to encounter such a character. But then I'm an old..or should I say "ex" hippy...and in that life I saw plenty of somewhat feral characters...in fact some people would say I was a feral....hahaha.

I thing the Cube is definitely one of the places I'll be visiting soon. Sounds like a good spot.

Funny story about your friend with the rings! Tilley's originally started as a women-only, lesbian cafe/nightclub. It still attracts a sizeable lesbian clientele. Sounds like you may have met one of the regulars!!

I promise I'll take you out some other night. Ideally not a Monday, though!!

Thought I'd add this comment...although I joke about my drinking companion at Tilley's, she actually was a very interesting person, if somewhat eccentric and strange. But hey, many people would and no doubt do consider me "strange". I've always been a non-judgemental person, but since uncovering and allowing my t-girl side to blossom, I've became even more accepting of other people. I judge them for who they are, not how society would normally judge them.

But talk about eccentric...she said to me that she no longer has to shave her legs (she showed me her hairless legs)since she encountered the aliens from outer space. Sounds like a T-girl dream encounter...no more hair removal required!!
